Back to Black!

“Black is modest and arrogant at the same time.

Black is lazy and easy but so mysterious.

But above all black says this: I don’t bother you – don’t bother me.”

My photographer and I shot this look on a lazy summer afternoon. It was one of those hot summer afternoons when you are feeling a little bit tired after posing all day long…There is not a particular reason but your mood is down…This is actually how I felt that day…But then something magical occurred…I sat down to take my pics and while posing I suddenly felt it…The sun…It’s so hard to be angry when one has seen the sun setting and the right lightning…This is for sure my favorite time of the day to take photos…
Because it makes one feel so small and insignificant…

The setting for this shoot couldn’t have been more fitting with this cool and comfortable black outfit, perfectly matching the color of my Zara sandals. Keeping things a little sleek and more minimal lately, not sure if it’s the heat that’s keeping me from accessory overkill. Especially when you are wearing just a black sheer bodysuit, like this one! I’ve been on the hunt for some decent bodysuits for a while, so when I finally came across this black one I knew my wardrobe would get a good facelift.

The bodysuit is though a little risque to just rock it down the street…you know, being completely lace, see through and totally unlined and all! And the best way I’ve found to wear it in public and get away with it’s under some harem pants. Keeping the 90’s sexy grunge thing going I topped it giving my hair a strong back style.

So… BODYSUITS ladies.

Do we like them or not? Would we wear them or not?

Well… trends are bound to come and go. It’s just about style. And how do we agree on one item being hip or not? If the retails chains are shoving it down our throats, while we’re happily digesting? If celebs are sporting it? If bloggers are doing the look? Today’s fashion is definitely more about style, so perhaps that’s why we’re bringing back tons of once-hip-items. That, and also we’ve never gotten to try some of them when they were in their glory.

When in the 90’s, George Michael’s ‘Too Funky’ video featured that motorcycle bodysuit and the silver one, I thought those bodysuits were the funkiest and most beautiful things EVER. It was something so irresistible and unattainable I just couldn’t take my eyes off them. Since then it’s only been models and artists wearing them on runways, photo-shoots, concerts and shows. They stopped being mainstream until today, when more and more girls are seen wearing bodysuits with shorts or high waisted skirts or pants. They look so chic.

What’s great about bodysuits is that they come in infinite styles and designs for absolutely all tastes and occasions. Truth is they are a bit too fitted and maybe pretentious, but at the same time they’re pretty basic and subtle. So what should we do? Give up sweets? Work out more for the sake of a trend? Nah. Just put it on hold for those super confident days we all have sometimes, when we don’t give a shit about anything and rock the hell out of any look. Who cares if we’re not bodysuit ready? Seriously. Who is?

Perfection does not exist. And the more idea of it is boring to death, so as I always say… if you love it, rock it!

“If you limit your choices only to what seems possible or reasonable, you disconnect yourself from what you truly want… and all that is left in compromise.” – Robert Fritz

Allow your imagination to soar… let it extend itself to new heights. Begin each day with a new set of wings, and let your ambitions take flight. We are what we think of ourselves and believe ourselves to be.

Take the first step and have confidence in a dream!

We should all play dress up more often. Push yourself to experiment with what’s already in your closet and you may be surprised with all the awesome ideas you come up with. You’ll also then have a better idea of what key pieces are missing so that your next shopping trip won’t be in vain. – See more at: IMG_6659
