SANTORINIs Charm

It’s crazy to think that not much more than twelve months ago I was perched in this exact same spot, overlooking Oia and the Volcano.

Time flies faster every single month, week and day and it isn’t until stopping to appreciate exactly how much has changed in the past year. The sea, sun on my skin, good food and the time spent with my lover on the most romantic island on Earth (for me).

Nothing could ever beat that!

Santorinis charm is incomparable. Santorini is a small volcanic Cyclades island that offers unforgettable landscapes together with the colors of land and sea, the rich light and the depth and clarity of the horizon. Santorini’s charm sweeps away the terror of the nightmarish birth of the island, underlines it’s dazzling presence and assures it of winning the first place in the contest of Greek island beauty.

The deep blue color of the sea, the reddish-black of the cliffs and the smoke that is seen in the background from the crater of Nea Kameni, compose a unique picture of wild beauty.

“These moments are steeped in so much romance that it’s difficult not to feel the flutter of new love or rekindle an old, almost forgotten love.”

Today, Santorini is known all over the world as the small volcanic island of the Greek archipelago. It’s the perfect destination to everyone who loves and wants to share its wild natural beauty and be seduced by its light and the clarity of its horizon. Moreover, one can let his imagination travel to the past, to the frightful birth of the island, to feel the insignificance of Man as opposed to the forces of nature. Santorini, however, does not dazzle the visitor solely with the grandeur of a geological phenomenon. It also offers the magic of Atlantis, which legends and the works of Plato identify as this island.

The view of the volcano and the Caldera with Oia on the right side, from this edge of the cliff, is really amazing. Remember to arrive in Santorini early in the morning to enjoy the rest of your day in beautiful Oia!

The traditional village of Oia unfolds along the volcanic rocks. It’s the jewel of Santorini! It’s adored by everyone for its eternal exquisite beauty and unforgettable sunsets! Oia seduces visitors with her picturesque yposkafa, residences carved into the rock, narrow paths and imposing Caldera.

“It’s Oia that has made me wiser and helped me improve my humble perception of aesthetics; it taught me the art of subtraction, or rather non-addition, the value of harmony and the human scale” says fashion designer Yannis Tseklenis, in reference to the uniqueness of Oia.

The feelings you get from this beautiful sceneries, the atmosphere and the view should be completed with a delicious Greek meal. I recommend you with all my heart to have dinner in one of the most beautiful places  in the world: on the rim of the Caldera. A romantic evening there after you’ve seen the most spectacular sunset in the world  is worth spending!

Santorini’s charm cannot leave any visitor unmoved!
