Summer has always been the season of the It: like the It song, the It hangout and of course, the It item that everyone (including me) is obsessed with. Now I’m obsessed with off-the-shoulder trend!
Last summer it was the crop top. If you weren’t wearing one you were basically out of fashion. This summer is all about the off the shoulder look! From colorful pretty tops with voluminous, ruffled sleeves to glam gowns, like the one Julia Roberts recently wore to the Cannes Film Festival.
Exposed shoulders, in my opinion, are the latest and feminine way to show some skin. And unlike abs, shoulders always look good. So, you can skip a cardio class and with an illuminating body lotion on those sexy clavicles, you are ready to wear this hottest trend.
The spring 2016 runways may have been filled with off-the-shoulder look, but this trend has been along since the mid-1800s. Couturier Charles Frederick Worth designed for the first time elaborate dresses, featuring pieces with off-the-shoulder sleeves.
But the one who put a sexy spin on this look was gorgeous Brigitte Bardot. During the 60’s, she wore off the shoulder tops with everything from midi skirts to pants. Her signature effortless French Riviera style is still emulated today on the runways and red carpet.
Whether you channel a statement gown or a floaty LBD, an off-the-shoulder look is this season’s cool-girl calling card. Make sure you go for a good strapless bra and a quick dusting of bronzer on the décolletage to ensure the look is perfect.
For me, off-the-shoulder trend is the perfect choice for these last days of summer.
