Fay Women’s Autumn/Winter 2017-18 fashion show it was one of my favorite from Milan Fashion Week, so I decided to write about it. Absolutely loved the studded jackets and the leggings with zippers at #fayautumn #MFW #fashion collection, hoping Fay starts a men’s line soon.
After New York and London, for the next six days, Milano Moda Donna rules the world of female fashion, with a host of glittering shows in the Italian fashion capital.
Call it my weakness for Italy, but I have to agree that Italian fashion week is my favorite one. It takes place twice a year in Milan and I promise I will not miss it.
During Milan Fashion Week, the city’s cobblestoned streets turn into veritable catwalks, filled with VIPs and fashion lovers from all over the globe. And fashion shows go on pretty much non-stop, so there’s plenty of chance to get up close and personal with your favorite designers and collections.
I know I missed these days but I want to catch up with all the stories I have for you from Milan Fashion Week! Stay tuned all week for major fashion inspiration.
Like I told you in my previous article Gucci and Fay gave Milan Fashion Week a splashy start with joyful collections. After Gucci show, I crossed the street to attend Fay Women’s autumn/winter 2017/18 fashion show, one of the most classic brands of all. Fay, part of Italian luxury group Tod’s, went for masculine looks, inspired by the fashion of the 1990s.
The nineties, a decade when the female form reached its maximum expression, represents the foundation of the NEW
Fay Women’s autumn/winter 2017/18 collection designed by Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi.
A meaningful era that the brand revisits on its own terms, balancing seemingly juxtaposed volumes. The key concept for this season is Freedom of Expression: drawing inspiration from menswear’s iconic garments and classic fabrics, the designers have come up with solutions brimming with character. The result is a new “GENTLELADY” that can, with creativity and nonchalance, wear black & white graphic print, hues of lime, lipstick reds, as well as Scottish greens and peacock blue.
The varsity inspired oversized volumes of the Montgomery coat harmoniously balance form-fitting silhouettes that cling to the body: the double-breasted coats are combined with shortened lengths, while short blazers reveal the waistline, British-inspired pleated skirts highlight prominent shoulders and combine well with fancy sweaters, in line with the English tradition. The naturally treated classic fabrics of male elegance are the foundation of Fay Women’s Autumn/Winter collection. This gave origin to interesting combinations that highlight the collection’s creativity: Camel is combined with tartan or sporty patent leather, the shiny leather combined with cashmere while the light sheepskins are combined with waterproof fabrics.
Customizations represent a NEW: studs outlining tartan designs on leather, stones, and crystals are used as pins decorating outerwear, belts, and bustiers, or as colorful charms on handbags.
With a clever blend of forms and materials, accessories have been reinvented: warm chamois ribbons become a soft boot; shoulder bags with interchangeable handles in leather or chain are the perfect items for both day and evening. The Hobo bag is now available in python and calfskin, handcrafted with studs and leather decorations.
The collection eloquently speaks to a creative, independent woman that is unafraid of contrasts and can graciously stand out against the crowd, thanks to a wholly unique sense of style.
Fay is meant to be an accessible evergreen brand whose products is constantly refreshed to reflect changing tastes and times. Personally, I loved it!
